North Texas Wind Damage: What to Check After High Winds
After high winds, homeowners in Fort Worth, Arlington, Flower Mound, and throughout DFW may see missing or lifted shingles, displaced ridge caps, loose flashing, bent gutters, or new interior water stains. A roof can look mostly intact from the street while still needing a closer construction inspection.
What Wind-Damage Signs Can You See Safely?
From the ground, look for shingles that are missing, curled, lifted, or out of alignment; loose metal at roof edges; debris in gutters; dents to exterior metal; and water marks after rain. Do not climb onto the roof. Photograph visible conditions from a safe location and note the date you found them.
What Should You Do After Wind Damage?
Protect the property from additional damage when safe, keep receipts for temporary protection, and contact your insurer promptly if you decide to report a claim. Avoid permanent repairs before the carrier has an opportunity to inspect. A contractor can document visible construction observations and explain repair-scope questions; your insurer and policy determine coverage and payment.
